Okay, now let’s talk ‘recipe’ options! I use quotes around recipe, because I firmly believe this kind of skinny cocktail creation is all about personal preference! Don’t like tequila? Don’t use it! Like it sweet? Use limeade and/or simple syrup! Prefer it tart? Stick to pure lime juice! We’ve got options here, ladies! Skinny Marg made with Lime Juiceġ shot (1.5 oz) Patron or preferred clear tequilaģ oz Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice OR this option that I love to keep on handġ oz Simple Syrup (so easy to make, here’s how!) And sometimes, I just nix the tequila all together because I basically just want a fun limeade! Haha! I’m talking maybe less than a half a shot? Sure, I’ll order one as a real treat when out to Mexican food every now and again… but at home, I often keep it at a real minimum. That probably sounds a little diva-like, but I really do think it’s the yummiest! But really, I think as long as you’re going with a nicer quality and clear tequila… you’re good! I also must disclaim that I use the TINIEST amount of tequila in my margs. SO, I came up with a few options for Skinny Marg recipes using Topo Chico! Let’s go! My Preferred Tequila Choice: When I shared this on Insta Stories, y’all were on board with the idea and even shared your own thoughts/ideas! This is why we’re all friends! Naturally, I needed to attempt to re-create this. Again, Katey, shared with me recently that she had a margartia made with topo chico and fresh lime juice and it was incredible. Now… let’s talk about how to use it in a skinny marg. My fingers and toes are crossed for y’all in your search to find it locally! However, it’s waaaaaay more expensive there (likely because shipping glass bottles is $$$). Well, I finally found it at my local Whole Foods! If your store doesn’t carry it, see if you can track down a manager to see if they’ll start ordering it! And if you’re really desperate… you can find it on Amazon. I’ve been on the hunt for it and though you’d think with all the fantastic Mexican food, markets, and culture we have in California, tracking down Topo Chico hasn’t been the easiest task. So now that we’re all clear on how fantastic it is, let’s talk about where to snag it…. I don’t really like normal sparkling water! But if the option was Topo Chico?! Girl, I’d be ordering left and right! Let me put it this way: when asked at a restaurant if I want sparking or still water, I always say still. I also firmly believe that it tastes better coming from a glass bottle. It’s sparking water, but it’s so much better than most! I find it to be a little less ‘fizzy’ and therefore, it’s smoother and easier to drink. What is it, exactly?! Well… glad you asked. I was introduced to this by Katey (again, she’s the best!) and have loved having it as a readily available option to drink while visiting Texas. If you’re not familiar with it… don’t fret. This past week over on my Instagram Stories, we’ve been chatting about our mutual love for Topo Chico. You are allowing my entrepreneurial dreams to turn into a reality and I’m so incredibly grateful for that. To my longtime readers and to my new readers just this week! Thank you for following along, reading, viewing, engaging, and supporting. Well, let’s just say those new friends love Katey and easy Mexican Food recipes as much as I do!!! So again, I know I may be starting to sound like a broken record here… but THANK YOU. I can’t even believe I’m typing these words, but it’s been yet another week of welcoming in so many new reader friends around here and on Instagram! If you’ve been catching up with me lately, our home tour was featured on The Everygirltwo weeks ago, then my dear friend Katey featured our home tour, and then this week Katey casually shared one of my personal favorite recipes over on her Instagram Stories. Happy Fri-YAY, friends! It’s been another fun and exciting week around here which calls for celebration! Or a skinny marg, at the very least!
